'If this happened to you and your family, it would be called an
injustice. But this is reality for thousands of families across Africa
and beyond.
Oxfam research shows that big land deals are forcing hard-working
people from their homes, jobs and food - leaving them destitute and
hungry.
Big land deals are tearing whole communities apart, leaving
people hungry and homeless. It's big business at a big cost. But the
World Bank has the power to be a force for good. With your assistance,
it can help protect the rights of the world's poorest people.
The World Bank - the international financial institution that
provides loans to developing countries - funds many big land deals. It
also influences how land is bought and sold. So this means it has the
power to help get the situation back under control. We need your help to
call on the Bank to play an important role in stopping land injustice.
World Bank President, Jim Kim, must freeze the bank's investment in land and set a fair standard for others to follow.
Sign our new petition. Tell the World Bank to put a freeze on big land deals - until we create a fairer way.'
